Mental Performance

Services provided are for coaches and/or players looking to discover ways in expanding the approach needed to improve craftsmanship within their sport. In determining the best approach to assist the individual. Services provided include, but are not limited to:

  • Observations

  • Needs assessment

  • Series of questions that will highlight strengths as well as challenge areas

  • Treatment planning

Coaching

I breathe coaching. As an athlete, I learned early in middle school how to harness the mental toughness it takes to win. Not only that, I understood early on how to get results by listening to my body and manipulating it through my mind to perform at a high level on a consistent basis. My dominance elevated me to compete on a high level on and off the court. Through my playing experience, I was afforded the opportunity to coach middle, high school, as well as collegiate student-athletes. I pride myself on being strength-based and meeting people where they are in their journey.

Consulting

I consult with coaches, athletic directors, and professional athletes seeking advice and/or direction; this individual may be experiencing minor challenges within their daily routine. However, this does not impact their level of functioning. This support is a semblance of a life coach, or mentor, and can be viewed as self-esteem building.

Team Building and Cohesion

Team building and/or group sessions can be a powerful tool used to honor, acknowledge and validate one’s experience while holding space for another. I like the idea of group therapy because everyone can be impactful while processing their own experience and working through their specific challenges or issues. Here is the breakdown:

  • Sessions are designed to support player management and support for coaches, team cohesion, and team goal setting.

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or CBT: This is typically short-term treatment that can go for weeks or months; in the team/group setting typically 6-8 weeks. I will cover these 6 components; strength-based, self-esteem building, positive self-talk, thought to reframe, self-monitoring, scaling techniques, and coping skills. Additionally, for individual counseling, this can go on for months before seeing progress.

Athlete Progression Assistance and/or Consultation 

(Counseling and Consultation Combined)

This service is designed to assist the athlete and their support systems (i.e. friends, family, mentors, etc.) with outlining a supportive and strategic plan that directly correlates with the athletes’ long-term and short-term goals. Throughout the career of an athlete there can be several changes, this service is designed to assist the athlete with effectively managing day-to-day life stressors in addition to the pressures associated with being an athlete.

Individual Counseling

Services are based on the individual needs of each client. I mostly provide Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Strength-Based, Psychodynamic, Client-Centered, Solution-Focused, Mindfulness, and Narrative Therapy. I believe in working in partnership with clients, utilizing their strengths to help them sort out their challenges and achieve their goals. I also realize how important it is to identify all aspects of an individual’s life that impact their well-being including their physical health, support systems (family, friends), work or school environment, and faith/spirituality in this process.

Important To Know

1. Guaranteed confidentiality to maintain the privacy of all athletes.

2. Facetime, and/or Zoom sessions are available for athletes who are on the road or for those who travel often; however, this does not include clinical support.
